Charles Grimes is Of Counsel to Patrick | Doerr and focuses his practice on corporate and intellectual property matters across a multitude of industries on a global scale. Chuck has extensive experience in all aspects of intellectual property law, including managing global trademark portfolios for leading consumer products companies. He has represented a diverse range of clients, including inventors, artists, authors, illustrators, musicians, photographers, toy and game designers, software developers, entertainment and sports personalities, and many others in various creative fields.

 

He has been involved in significant patent and trademark litigations, including a high-profile case where he developed and executed a strategy to protect the trademarks of the world’s largest premium cigar manufacturer from counterfeiting. This effort involved collaboration with undercover operatives, private investigators, and federal, state, and local law enforcement to conduct raids, seize tens of millions of dollars in counterfeit goods, and apprehend and convict key offenders.

Chuck has also served as an adjunct professor at the Ave Maria School of Law, where he taught intellectual property courses. He has been the editor of the Licensing Journal and the IP Litigator and has authored over twenty books on intellectual property and licensing, including:
